The Most Important Thing To Do When Changing Your Diet

Sugar: it's in everything we eat, we love it, and it's absolutely killing us. Deaths from type 2 diabetes, obesity, and heart disease have all been linked to sugar intake, and yet our national consumption has never been higher. Thank goodness we had nutrition expert and bestselling author Cynthia Sass on the show to help navigate us through this sugar nightmare.

Cutting sugar out from our diets is a process. It's not something that we can all change overnight, or something we'll be perfect at all the time. Going forward, though, there is one thing that Cynthia recommends more than anything, when considering any change to your diet.

The number one thing she would want someone to know is: "Listen to your body".

Cynthia reminds us of how much our bodies try and communicate with us. "When our bodies are cold, we shiver; when we're hot, we sweat." These are signs that our body is telling us something, and we should take notice of them. “Your body tells you the same things when it comes to food – when you're under eating, when you're overeating, if you have fatigue, if you have low energy, if your bloated...” All of these are indications that something isn't right. Reflect on how you've been eating, and think – what will put me in better balance? As Cynthia advises, “Listen to your body; allow it to tell you where to go.”
