New Kids On The Block is known for catchy '90s tunes, but you may be surprised to learn that the group preps for their energetic live performances with prayer.
In a HuffPost Live interview about his new CBS series "The McCarthys," band member Joey McIntyre dished on the longstanding pre-show tradition that he says brings brings everyone together, from production to crew.
“We used to sing warm-ups and gospel songs before the show and have fun that way and get going,” he told host Caitlyn Becker. “It’s a nice way to connect with our crew too, parts of our crew and our security guys and our production crew before the show. "
While the songs warm up their vocals, joining hands to pray helps the band on a more spiritual level.
“We grab hands, all denominations, all connections with higher power and God and just coming together. And just being grateful, really, for the opportunities that we get to go out there and have some fun,” he said.
